FIPs.
FIPs are Farcaster Improvement Proposals - the design documents that propose changes to Farcaster, inspired by Ethereum's EIPs. If you are building on Farcaster this season, this is the roadmap: what is being added, what is being debated, and how to put your own idea on the table.
Where they live
How a FIP moves
Every proposal walks the same four stages. Anyone can start one.
Idea
Open a discussion titled "FIP: your idea" with the fip-idea label. The concept gets its first read.
Draft
Formalized into a written proposal and developed with the community.
Review
Evaluated and debated. The hard questions get asked here.
Finalized
Accepted and shipped, or rejected with a reason. Either way it is on the record.
Three kinds of FIP: Process (changes how the community works), Standards (a standard for developers), and Implementation (a change to the protocol itself).
A few worth reading
How casts can target channels and other surfaces - the groundwork a lot of clients build on.
A proposal we are following: surfacing who is speaking and when in an audio Space. If it lands, our workshop recap videos go from a 30-second manual step to fully automatic.
FIP numbers and links change as proposals move stages - the discussions list above is always current.
Got a protocol-level idea?
If you are building this season and you hit a wall the protocol could fix, that is a FIP. Write the idea up, open a discussion titled "FIP: ...", tag it fip-idea, and see where it goes. Building with the grain of the protocol - and helping shape it - is exactly the kind of work ZABAL Gamez is for.
